TOKYO (AP) — Alicia Sacramone won a record 10th medal at the world gymnastics championships without setting foot on the floor.

She’s been recovering from surgery on a torn Achilles tendon in the United States while the U.S. women ran away with the title at the world gymnastics championships Tuesday night in Tokyo.

Sacramone will get the gold medal, breaking the American record she’d shared with Shannon Miller and Nastia Liukin.

Sacramone is prized for her leadership — she was captain of the Beijing Olympics squad — and the Americans were devastated when she was hurt during training last Thursday. But the young squad used her injury as motivation and went on to win its third world title.

Sacramone had surgery on Monday.
