Chizik: Trotter remains Auburn’s starting QB

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Barrett Trotter remains Auburn’s starting quarterback.

Coach Gene Chizik said Tuesday that the struggling Trotter will start Saturday night for the 24th-ranked Tigers when Florida visits, not freshman Kiehl Frazier.

Chizik says dropped balls by receivers and other issues make it “hard for any quarterback to be as productive as you want them to be if everyone else around them is at times not productive as well.”

The coach says he and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn evaluated every part of the offense, not just the quarterbacks. He’s not certain if any other changes will be made.

Chizik says leading receiver Emory Blake will be a gametime decision after missing the Arkansas game with a lower leg injury. He says guard Jared Cooper is doubtful.
