Two local businesses are partnering with the nonprofit Children’s Center to collect personal hygiene items and food for families.

The Children’s Center is a community mental health agency that provides services for children and families. Many families who use the center have reported that purchasing school supplies depleted the family’s resources, leaving them without personal hygiene items that cannot be purchased with food stamps.

So the Children’s Center has partnered with Twilight Pizza Bistro in Camas and U.S. Bank to hold the drive.

Twilight Pizza Bistro, 224 N.E. Fourth Ave., will collect the following items until Oct. 24: laundry detergent, fabric softener/sheets, bleach, dish soap, sponges, dishwasher detergent, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, toilet paper, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, combs, bar soap, peanut butter or other nut butters, canned tuna fish, dry legumes, canned meals, canned soup, bottled fruit juices, breakfast bars, meal replacement bars, bottled condiments, rice, pasta and bottled pasta sauces.

U.S. Bank branches in Vancouver will collect the following items until Oct. 31: toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, shampoo, laundry detergent, peanut butter and tuna fish.

Items can also be dropped off at the Children’s Center, 415 W. 11th St. in Vancouver.
