CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — A long-time friend of a former Texas used car dealer charged in a plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia’s ambassador in the United States says his friend told in him in August while they were both in Iran that he was making a lot of money for not very much work.

Tom Hosseini says when he saw Manssor Arbabsiar (mahn-SUHR’ ahr-BAHB’-see-ahr) in August in Iran, his friend was well dressed and was carrying $20,000 to $30,000 in cash.

Hosseini says Arbabsiar told him he was going to make a lot of money but wouldn’t give specifics.

Arbabsiar is a U.S. citizen who also holds an Iranian passport. He and another man are being held without bail for their role in the alleged Iranian plot to kill the ambassador.
