AUBURN, Wash. (AP) — The King County sheriff’s marine unit is looking Thursday for the body of a fisherman who was swept away in the Green River at Auburn and apparently drowned.

The sheriff’s office says the 35-year-old Tacoma man was wading in the river with a friend Wednesday evening when he lost his footing and his hip-waders filled with water.

Several people tried to rescue him by reaching with fishing poles. At least one person jumped in but was unable to reach him in the swift water.

He was last seen floating into a log jam.
