Fruit Valley — The new McCallister Village housing development is boasting a safe place for middle school students to go after school: a Boys & Girls Club Teen Center.
“We offer homework help, a snack, cooking classes, games, sports, computers and much more,” said coordinator Sarah Rhodaback.
The club is open to sixth, seventh and eighth graders, and hours of operation are 3:45 to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and non-school days from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A shuttle bus will transport students from Discovery Middle School to the teen center. One-week trial memberships are available as the new club gets off the ground.
To join, you must attend a parent and member orientation, which are held on 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. The Boys & Girls Club Teen Center at McCallister Village is located at 2155 W. Firestone Lane (off Fruit Valley Road). Call Sarah at 360-433-9349 or write teenservices.mv@mybgc.org for more information.
