STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (kah-LEEN-ah Mahs-KEh-dah Lewis) will wear No. 23 at Connecticut, the same jersey worn by Maya Moore.

Last year’s national high school player of the year says she understands that fans want her to replace Moore, who led UConn to two national titles in her four years in Storrs.

Mosqueda-Lewis says she asked Moore’s permission to wear the jersey, but doesn’t expect to match Moore’s accomplishments. She says she just wants to provide rebounding, shooting, energy to this year’s team.

Auriemma says Mosqueda-Lewis is perhaps a better shooter than Moore, and also shares a special trait of wanting to be great.

But he says those who expect her to come in, be national player of the year and lead UConn to four national titles need to realize that “ain’t gonna happen.”
