A Portland motorcyclist was injured Wednesday evening in a crash on Highway 14 in Skamania County.

Jacob L. Cummings, 26, was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with lacerations and abrasions to the leg, hip and back. He was listed in satisfactory condition Thursday night.

State troopers said the crash occurred at 7:30 p.m. about four miles east of Cape Horn. Cummings was rounding a curve, went out of control and skidded off the roadway.

His 2003 Suzuki motorcycle collided with a guardrail. A Ford truck driven by Dayne Waldkirch struck debris from Cummings’ bike, according to a news bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

Waldkirch, of Battle Ground, was not injured, the state patrol said.

Troopers said they concluded Cummings was driving too fast for conditions.
