TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona State’s defense has been called fast, aggressive, even dirty by some.

Now, the Sun Devils can also be called opportunistic.

Arizona State had 17 takeaways all last season and opened this year with just one in its first two games before they started piling up.

The Sun Devils lead the Pac-12 with 18 turnovers, getting all but one of those in the past four games. Arizona State scored 22 points off turnovers in wins over Southern California and Utah, and kept Oregon State from rallying by forcing five turnovers against the then-winless Beavers.

The takeaway trend has the Sun Devils believing they have a legitimate shot at knocking off No. 9 Oregon on Saturday at Autzen Stadium.
