COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Olympic champion Evan Lysacek has dropped out of the Grand Prix Series, including the Skate America event which would have been his first competition since winning at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Lysacek told U.S. Figure Skating on Friday that he won’t compete in the Grand Prix, including next week’s Skate America in Ontario, Calif., and the Trophee Eric Bompard event in November in Paris.

Lysacek gave no reason for his withdrawal. U.S. Figure Skating executive director David Raith says the governing body respects Lysacek’s decision.

Douglas Razzano was selected to replace Lysacek at Skate America. Razzano opened the season with a second-place finish at Finlandia Trophy earlier this month.
