LAS VEGAS (AP) — IndyCar series title contenders Dario Franchitti and Will Power will start on the same row, well back in the field for the season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Franchitti, who holds an 18-point lead over Power in the season standings, was 18th during Friday’s qualifying around the 1.5-mile oval at LVMS. He’ll be on the outside of Power for Sunday’s Las Vegas Indy 300 after the Australian turned a fast lap of 220.524 mph.

Tony Kanaan will lead the 34-car field after posting a speed of 222.078 mph to earn the pole — a week after completing the Ironman Triathlon.

Danica Patrick will start ninth in her final race as a full-time IndyCar driver before heading to NASCAR.
