Troopers arrest Ore. man in carcass dumping case

ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) -- State troopers say they've arrested a Southern Oregon man in the illegal dumping of five antelope carcasses in Douglas County.

The police said several groups pitched in for a $3,500 reward, and tips from the public led them to 46-year-old Randal Vernon Smithey of Sutherlin on Thursday.

He's accused of waste of a game animal and littering.

The carcasses were found late last month on timber company land northwest of Sutherlin.

Troopers say they haven't finished their investigation.
