Duquesne defeats Central Connecticut State 28-21

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Sean Patterson ran for a 4-yard touchdown with 42 seconds left, sending Duquesne to a 28-21 win over Central Connecticut State on Saturday.

Patterson, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns, engineered the game-winning drive through the air and on the ground. He led the Dukes (5-2, 3-1 Northeast Conference) from their own 10-yard line with a 42 yard run and had 25 of his 72 totaled passing yards on the final drive.

On Central Connecticut State’s ensuing drive, Khiry Carter intercepted a pass by Blue Devils quarterback Gunnar Jespersen in the end zone to seal it.

Jespersen finished 19 of 25 for 168 yards and an interception, and added 79 rushing yards and two scores for the Blue Devils (2-5, 1-3).

Larry McCoy rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns for the Dukes, who didn’t commit a turnover but had three takeaways from Central Connecticut State.
