MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Nick Andrews caught a 34-yard touchdown pass and became Alabama State’s career receptions leader as the Hornets remained unbeaten in Southwestern Athletic Conference play by beating Prairie View A&M 20-7 on Saturday.

Andrews caught nine passes for 118 yards, giving him 178 for his career with the Hornets (6-1, 6-0), two more than Damon Hodge.

Alabama State took advantage of a fumble by the Panthers (4-3, 4-2) to open the scoring on Greg Jenkins’ 10-yard touchdown run 1:35 into the game. Jenkins’ scoring pass to Andrews made it 14-0 in the second quarter.

Jenkins completed 21 of 31 for 215 yards with an interception.

The Hornets defense also came up big, stopping the Panthers twice from the 1-yard line in the second quarter, and Kejuan Riley made his sixth interception of the season in the fourth quarter.

Fred Anderson rushed for 101 yards on 20 carries for the Panthers.
