LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Blaine Gautier threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes as Louisiana-Lafayette held North Texas scoreless in the second half in a 30-10 win on Saturday.

With his team leading 13-10, Gautier threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Darryl Surgent and a 24-yarder to Javone Lawson to stretch the lead to 27-10. A 31-yard field goal in the final minute by Brett Baer provided the final margin. Gautier finished with 238 yards passing and four touchdowns.

Louisiana-Lafayette (6-1, 4-0 Sun Belt Conference) has won six straight and is bowl eligible earlier than in any other season as a Football Bowl Subdivision program. The win continues the Ragin’ Cajuns’ best start since 1970, and it is the best start for a Sun Belt team since the conference was formed in 2001.

Lance Dunbar scored the only touchdown for North Texas (2-5, 1-2) but was held to 53 yards after three straight 100-yard-plus rushing games.
