The Ridgefield Spudders improve their record to 5-2 and keep the league title hunt alive.

Castle Rock visited Ridgefield friday night in a game of low scores and many three-and-outs.

Ridgefield’s lone touchdown came off a 15-yard rushing touchdown by running back Michael Knox in the first quarter, followed by a two-point conversion run by quarterback Gunnar Long, putting the team in the lead 8-0.

“It was a great night for the O-linemen,” Knox said. “They really deserve all the credit. Our defense did a great job as well. They really held (the Rockets).”

With the clock winding down in the first half, Castle Rock found itself with the ball and driving. The team made it all the way down to the 3-yard line with one second left on the clock. But the Ridgefield defense was able to stonewall the Rockets offense.

“Our defense played awesome tonight,” coach Matt Martin said. “I told them after the loss last week that I wanted to shut out our next opponent. And they came really close to doing so.”

The Spudders threw the ball once for 10 yards in the game the rest of their 149 yards of offense came on the ground.

“After the game last week of having three interceptions I didn’t want to put us in another situation like that,” Martin said.

Later on in the first quarter the Spuds kicker Dalton Ries puts a 32 yard field goal through the uprights.

Castle Rock’s lone score of the night came off a 32 yard field goal by kicker Mikel Skreen.

The Rockets gained 166 yards in tonights game.
