WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Friends and family have observed the 30th birthday of a Utah mother who mysteriously vanished in December 2009.
A group of more than 30 people released roughly 250 purple balloons in memory of Susan Powell on Saturday in West Valley City, where she lived with her husband and two children before disappearing.
A similar ceremony was held Sunday afternoon in her hometown of Puyallup, Wash., in an effort to return public attention to the missing woman.
The Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune report the recent focus has been on her husband, Josh Powell, and his father, Steven Powell.
