EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A young couple suspected in a murder spree that claimed four lives in three Western states have been returned to Washington state to face charges that could bring the death penalty.

Everett, Wash., police Sgt. Robert Goetz (Gets) said Tuesday evening that David “Joey” Pedersen and his girlfriend, Holly Grigsby, had arrived from northern California and been booked into the Snohomish County Jail. They had been held in the Yuba County, Calif., jail since their Oct. 6 arrest. They waived their right to an extradition hearing last week.

They are charged in Washington with aggravated first-degree murder, accused of killing Pedersen’s father, David “Red” Pedersen, and his wife Leslie about Sept. 26 in Everett. They are also suspected of killing two other people, including Cody Myers in Oregon and Reginald Alan Clark in Eureka, Calif.

Aggravated murder is punishable in Washington by execution or life in prison without release.
