Former Miami Dolphin player faces battery charge

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver James McKnight was arrested after a domestic violence incident in South Florida.

According to an arrest report, 39-year-old McKnight was arrested Tuesday after grabbing his wife’s wrists and twisting them before throwing her into their car. He remained in Broward County Jail on Wednesday morning, charged with misdemeanor battery. Bail was set at $3,500.

McKnight played for the Dolphins from 2001 to 2003. He also played for the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.

According to his financial planning company’s website, McKnight has coached the football and track teams at Cypress Bay High School in Weston where his son played football.

No one immediately respond to an email sent to a business address for McKnight. No other details about the incident were available.
