UConn, Syracuse tie for 1st in coaches' poll

NEW YORK (AP) -- Defending national champion Connecticut and Syracuse are the co-favorites to win the Big East regular-season title.
They were tied in the coaches' preseason poll on Wednesday, although Connecticut had seven first-place votes, two more than Syracuse.
Louisville was third, followed by Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Marquette, West Virginia, Villanova, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Rutgers, St. John's, Seton Hall, South Florida, Providence and DePaul.
Pittsburgh senior guard Ashton Gibbs has been chosen preseason player of the year and Connecticut freshman center Andre Drummond has been selected preseason rookie of the year.
