CRESA: Earthquake drill scheduled Thursday

Forget about the great pumpkin. This October the Clark Regional Services Agency wants the public to start thinking about the great earthquake drill.

The agency invites the public to participate in a nationwide earthquake drill at 10:20 a.m. Thursday.

“Muscle memory is so important during times of stress,” Cindy Stanley wrote on the CRESA blog. “If the ground starts shaking from an earthquake, you need to Drop-Cover-Hold On.”

That means dropping under a desk or table, holding on with your dominant hand, bending over if possible and covering the back of your head with your other hand, she said.

If a drill at 10:20 a.m. doesn’t fit into your schedule, CRESA said you can pick any time in the near future to give it a go.

For more information on the drill and additional resources, visit the CRESA blog.
