Letter: Organized propaganda adds confusion

Regarding Ellen Smart’s Oct. 11 letter, “Medicare answers not forthcoming,” I, too, received a glossy flier from the organization RetireSafe. I folded it up and sent it back with a note asking the following questions:

Who are you? Which Medicare drug benefit are you referring to? The unfunded one from the Bush administration that has added to our deficit? Or the one in the Affordable Health Care Act that solves the funding/deficit problem in addition to closing the doughnut hole?

I do not expect to receive an answer from RetireSafe.

Given Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s promise to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act, I suspect RetireSafe is talking about the unfunded Bush version, even though this contradicts her promise to reduce the deficit.

It would be nice if she would clarify this point. However, I do not expect to receive an answer from Herrera Beutler, either.
