Letter: Vancouver school board Position 1

As a small-business owner, I lend my support to Bob Travis. It’s obvious to most observers that our current school board is in desperate need of a fresh face, new ideas and someone who isn’t afraid to say “no.” That person is Travis. Over the years, I have watched him turn around many troubled business units and return them to profitability in record time. His combination of skills, experience and knowledge will allow him to make the changes necessary to restore our district to greatness. Cast your vote for Travis for Position 1 on the Vancouver school board.

As a retired teacher with Vancouver Public Schools, I was surprised to read that Bob Travis, a candidate for the Vancouver school board, posted suggestive pictures on Facebook. I understand that he has removed them, but why did anyone endorse this candidate? Who was responsible for checking on him as a basically moral candidate for the school board? I want a candidate with a record of honesty and integrity to work for the children in our schools. Hasn’t Dale Rice been that hard-working school board member?
