Washougal’s Ellie Boon and Camas native Brent Richards were among the award winners recognized on Sunday at the first Portland Timbers Stand Together Awards Banquet.

Jack Jewsbury, Troy Perkins and Kalif Alhassan were recognized as the Timbers’ players of the year during the club’s first season in Major League Soccer. The banquet was held at The Nines hotel in Portland.

Jewsbury, the team’s captain, was chosen the Timbers’ player of the year by his teammates. Perkins, the goalkeeper, was selected the team’s player of the year by supporters. Alhassan was honored as the Timbers first Young Player of the Year.

Boon, a junior at Washougal High School, was named the Timbers/OYSA ODP girls player of the year. She helped the Oregon team of girls born in 1995 go unbeaten at the Olympic Development Program regional camp in 2011.

Richards was named the player of the year for the Timbers’ under-23 team. A senior who scored his team-best 10th goal on Sunday for the University of Washington men’s soccer team, tallied eight goals and six assists this summer for the Timbers U23s.

Other Portland Timbers honored on Sunday were rookies Darlington Nagbe and Jake Gleeson. Nagbe won goal of the year for his July 2 MLS Goal of the Week against Kansas City. Gleeson was recognized as the MLS W.O.R.K.S./Timbers Humanitarian of the Year for his work in the community.

Proceeds from the Stand Together Awards Banquet, which featured live and silent auctions, benefit the Portland Timbers Community Fund. The live auction raised more than $21,000.
