Letter: Nickels shines as leader for schools

The Columbian
Published: October 23, 2011, 5:00pm

It is with pleasure that I endorse Mavis Nickels for Position 4 on Battle Ground’s school board. She is currently on the school board as a replacement. I have been her close neighbor for almost 30 years and have witnessed a hard-working, dedicated, trustworthy and good-humored neighbor. After a rich career in teaching in the Battle Ground Public Schools, Nickels took over the family blueberry farm and runs it, working every day during the season. She is creative, intelligent and kind, patient and tenacious. She is also director of a nonprofit organization that promotes ecological growth in Clark County.
