HONG KONG (AP) — Top-ranked Luke Donald has withdrawn from the HSBC Champions next week in Shanghai to be with his wife for the birth of their second child.
Tournament organizers released a statement Saturday saying Donald had hoped the baby would arrive this week, but has now “reluctantly canceled his trip.”
The statement quoted English star from his home in the United States as saying, “It’s important for my wife and it’s important for me to make sure that I’m around to support her.”
Donald won the PGA Tour’s season-opening event last week take the tour’s money title.
