No. 14 Xavier tries to follow guards to big things

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Point guard Tu Holloway still gets a little emotional when he thinks back to a loss against Marquette that ended Xavier's season last year in the NCAA tournament.
Holloway tried to pull his team through the first-round game, but Marquette gave him no openings and his teammates provided little help. The senior guard will have more talent around him this season.
Xavier was ranked No. 14 in the AP preseason poll that came out on Friday, the Musketeers' first preseason ranking in nine years. They're more accustomed to starting the season on the cusp of the Top 25, losing a few games during their tough nonconference schedule, then rounding into form.
They've won five straight Atlantic 10 regular season titles and reached the NCAA tournament six years in a row.
