PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A poll shows state Sen. Suzanne Bonamici well ahead in the Democratic primary to succeed David Wu in Oregon’s 1st Congressional District.

It also shows 38 percent of likely Democratic voters haven’t decided among the three best-known candidates.

The poll done for The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/sZfqUe ) and KGW-TV (http://bit.ly/usi060 ) found Bonamici’s support at 45 percent.

Eleven percent were for Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian and 5 percent for state Rep. Brad Witt.

The telephone survey of 403 likely Democratic voters was done Monday through Wednesday. The margin of error is plus or minus 5 percentage points.

The primary ballots will be counted Nov. 8. The special election is in January.

On the Republican side, businessman Rob Cornilles is running against four little-known candidates.
