BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Kaderius Lacy had the best rushing game of his career as Alabama A&M held off Alabama State 20-19 on Saturday.

Lacy had 38 carries for 189 yards, both career highs, and scored on a 17-yard run to give the Bulldogs a 17-0 lead with 12:39 remaining in the first half.

But it was a special teams play that made the difference for Alabama A&M (6-2, 5-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which has won six games in a row.

Devin Dominguez scored on a 59-yard run for Alabama State to cut the deficit to 20-19 with 10:08 to play in the game. The Bulldogs’ Chartavious Keith blocked the extra point attempt by Bobby Wenzig to preserve the win. Dominguez, who also passed for 206 yards, rushed for 82 and two touchdowns for the Hornets (6-2, 6-1), who still maintain a half-game lead over Alabama A&M and Jackson State in the SWAC East.
