Liberty defeats Presbyterian 27-20 in double OT

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Mike Brown threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Chris Summers in the second overtime to give Liberty a 27-20 win over Presbyterian on Saturday.

On Presbyterian’s possession in the second OT, Ryan Singer was sacked by Scott Hyland for a loss of 12 on third-and-10 from the Liberty 11. The game ended when Singer’s pass went incomplete on fourth-and-22.

Liberty (6-3, 4-0 Big South Conference) led 13-10 with 1:32 left in regulation. Presbyterian (2-6, 1-2) drove 50 yards on seven plays, capped by Aaron Mayes’ 22-yard field goal to send it into overtime with 5 seconds left.

Michael Ruff put the Blue Hose ahead on the first play of overtime with a 25-yard TD run. But the Flames answered on Aldreakis Allen’s 3-yard TD run.

Allen had 131 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries.

Singer had 114 yards on 12 of 26 passing and 108 more on 16 carries.
