Halloween weather: Treat, no trick

A tip for parents on keeping kids' teeth healthy through Halloween: Try to avoid gooey and chewy candy, like caramels, that linger on the teeth and allow the bacteria in the mouth to produce more acid, which causes tooth decay.

A good night weatherwise is in store for trick-or-treating.

The clear skies predominating Monday morning should hold through the day, with some clouds. But there is little chance of a shower, according to the National Weather Service.

The high should be a seasonal 58 degrees, but will dip to the low 30s tonight. In the prime trick-or-treat hours between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. the temperature should be close to 50 degrees, so furry costumes might be best.

Sunset is at 5:59 p.m.
