Letter: Explain in detail reasons for vote

As a citizen, it is difficult to understand the issues that face us and upon which we must vote. It becomes even more difficult when our representatives cloud their positions on the issues. U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, does this, particularly regarding her stance on Medicare.

I received a robocall from American Action Network, which stated that our president is attacking Medicare while Herrera Beutler is working to protect Medicare. The truth is that Herrera Beutler voted for Rep. Paul Ryan’s, R-Wis., legislation to dismantle Medicare. She should stand by this vote or state she made a mistake supporting it. And I would call on her to ask the American Action Network to cease misrepresenting her current position and to cease misrepresenting our president’s position. It is shameful to attempt to confuse the electorate with misinformation.

If Herrera Beutler is proud of her vote, tell us why in detail.
