Letter: 'Yes' on I-1183 will bring new revenue
Monday, October 31, 2011
Washington state is faced with a deficit in excess of a billion dollars. We desperately need to obtain new revenues for state and local governments.
Initiative 1183 will provide millions in new revenue to our state without raising taxes. I-1183 provides the opportunity to end our outdated government liquor store system, while toughening our laws and strengthening enforcement. The initiative doubles fines and penalties for selling liquor to minors.
I care deeply about keeping our community safe and fiscally sound. A “yes” vote on I-1183 accomplishes both.
