BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have added newly acquired first baseman-outfielder Conor Jackson to their active roster and recalled left-hander Felix Doubront from Triple-A Pawtucket.
The moves were made Thursday when teams were allowed to expand their rosters.
Jackson, obtained Wednesday night from the Oakland Athletics for Pawtucket right-hander Jason Rice, hit .249 with four homers and 38 RBIs in 102 games before the trade. He started 43 games at first base, 38 in the outfield and two at third base.
Doubront had a 6.75 ERA in three relief outings for Boston in April and spent most of the season at Pawtucket, where he was 2-5 with a 4.22 ERA. He pitched in the majors for the first time last year, going 2-2 with a 4.32 ERA for Boston in 12 games, three starts.
