WASHINGTON (AP) — New York Mets catcher Josh Thole was out of the lineup for Friday’s game with the Washington Nationals because of a bruised left wrist.

Thole was hit by a foul ball on the wrist in the second inning of Thursday’s game against Florida. He had an MRI at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery on Friday and joined the team later in the day.

Thole, who’s batting .265 in 93 games, said he didn’t think he’d be out for long.

“A day or two with some good treatment,” Thole said.

Mike Nickeas is replacing Thole for Friday’s game.

Infielder Ruben Tejada, who suffered a bruised left hand in Thursday’s game, was also out of the lineup.
