SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The San Francisco Giants have recalled infielders Emmanuel Burriss, Brandon Crawford and Conor Gillaspie and reliever Waldis Joaquin from Triple-A Fresno and outfielder Darren Ford from Double-A Richmond.

The reigning World Series champions made the moves ahead of a crucial three-game weekend series with the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks, who led the NL West by six games over the Giants heading into Friday night’s opener at AT&T Park.

Burriss is back in the big leagues for the third time this season. He batted .297 in 45 games with Fresno but is .095 (2 for 21) in his last 13 major league games.

The speedy Ford and Crawford, a dependable shortstop who could be the starter as soon as 2012, are in their second stints with the Giants in 2011.

Joaquin was 2-2 with a 3.44 ERA in 35 appearances for Fresno.
