RETURN OF RADIO DAYS: KKOV, 1550 AM, will bring high school football back to the radio in Clark County for the first time in 10 years. Ron Soanka will call the action with color analyst Rodney Lawrence at McKenzie Stadium for the Evergreen-Mountain View game.
FAMILIAR FIRST FOES: All of Clark County’s high school football teams are opening the 2011 season with the same Week 1 opponents they played in 2010. Except for one: Union. The Titans will play at Bothell, the same team that eliminated Union from the playoffs in the final game of 2010 for Union.
RANKED ABOVE REST: Three Clark County teams earned spots in the preseason state rankings of two state publications. Skyview is No. 4 in the Seattle Times’ 4A rankings, and Union in No. 9. Camas is No. 6 in the 3A rankings. In the Tacoma News-Tribune’s rankings, Skyview is No. 5 and Union No. 8 in 4A, and Camas is No. 7 in 3A.
MARQUEE MATCHUPS: The Union-Bothell game will feature teams ranked No. 9 and No. 10 in the Seattle Times’ 4A rankings. The Camas-Timberline game feature teams ranked No. 7 and No. 8 in the News-Tribune 3A rankings. And the Skyview-Sherwood game feature’s the No. 4 Washington 4A team, according the Seattle Times, against the No. 2 5A Oregon team, according to OregonLive.com.
