SEATTLE (AP) — A fire in the Olympic National Forest has grown to 50 acres, and officials are asking for more resources to help put it out.
U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Donna Nemeth (NEH’-mihth) says officials have ordered six additional crews and a helicopter.
The fire is located near the Duckabush hiking trial, which has been closed as a precaution.
Nemeth adds that the fire was reported on Thursday and is burning dead brush. About 20 people were working on suppressing it.
On a sunny Saturday, the smoke was visible from as far as Seattle.
