ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) — Nick Andrews had career highs with 10 receptions and three touchdowns as Alabama State trounced Mississippi Valley State 41-9 Saturday.

Alabama State has now beaten MSVU in five of their last six meetings. This win was nearly as dominating as last year’s 34-6 rout to open that season.

After Mississippi Valley State took an early 6-0 lead, Hornets quarterback Greg Jenkins began connecting with Andrews. All three of their scoring passes, covering 36, 5 and 8 yards, occurred in the first half. Jenkins, who also ran for a touchdown, completed 19 of 27 for 188 yards.

The Alabama State defense forced seven MSVU turnovers. Although Delta Devils quarterback Garrick Jones passed for 121 yards and rushed for 113 more, MSVU had to settle for just three field goals.
