SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A 21-year-old psychiatric patient convicted of manslaughter has escaped from the Oregon State Hospital in Salem.

Hospital officials say Matthew Ingle was on a supervised walk with patients and staff on Saturday when he ran ahead of the group and jumped into a waiting car.

Authorities say Ingle should not be approached. He’s described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 182 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark shirt, and a white hat.

Ingle has been in the state hospital since Nov. 2009 following his conviction in Clackamas County.
