INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts are saying quarterback Peyton Manning is doubtful for Sunday’s season opener against the Houston Texans as he continues to recover from neck surgery.

The Colts say Monday that Manning has soreness in his back and will not practice. He will undergo more tests.

In a news release, the Colts say Manning “will likely be doubtful” for the opener and his status will be updated throughout the week.

Manning, the only four-time MVP in league history, has never missed a regular-season start and his streak of 227 consecutive games including playoffs is second all-time for quarterbacks.
