City to City wins Palomar Handicap at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — City to City beat Medaglia d’Amour by three-quarters Monday in the $150,000 Palomar Handicap for older fillies and mares at Del Mar.

Ridden by Garrett Gomez, City to City ran 1 1-16 miles on the turf in 1:41.58 and paid $13.60, $6.60 and $3.60 in her first victory this year.

Medaglia d’Amour returned $6.40 and $5, and Go Forth North paid $4 to show as the 4-1 favorite.

The victory, worth $90,000, increased City to City’s career earnings to $371,491, with six wins in 19 starts. She is trained and co-owned by recent Hall of Fame inductee Jerry Hollendorfer, who saddled his 6,000th winner at Del Mar on Saturday.
