Letter: Applaud exposing injustice

I recently saw the film, “The Whistleblower,” which was based on the true story of Kathryn Bolkovac, a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia who outed the U.N. for covering up a sex scandal. It was very disturbing to learn that contractors and others connected to the United States government either participated in or turned a blind eye to the trafficking and unbelievably cruel treatment of girls and women in foreign countries.

Why weren’t these men arrested and given long prison sentences, in addition to having all their monies confiscated and used to benefit their victims? Isn’t it the policy of any employer to check on the backgrounds of persons they hire?

These men lacked any moral fiber at all as they seemed to know nothing about the ethical treatment of fellow human beings. I hang my head in shame knowing that in this day and age, Americans are guilty of such horrors.
