BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say they have arrested a man who was being sought in the death of a former landlady in Idaho and held a couple at gunpoint in Oregon.

Brian Wolfe, sheriff of Oregon’s Malheur County, tells the Idaho Statesman (http://bit.ly/p7jkJ9 ) that a couple reported Sunday that they were held at gunpoint at their cabin near Lake Owyhee for more than an hour until their captor asked each for a hug and let them leave. The couple’s report prompted a search in eastern Oregon for 51-year-old Theodore J. Kestner.

Authorities say Kestner had left the cabin by the time police arrived but was found Monday and taken into custody.

Kestner also was being sought in the death of 53-year-old Jennifer Kirkpatrick, who was found dead Thursday at her Caldwell, Idaho, home.
