A five-car accident caused minor injuries and clogged traffic on state Highway 503 in Brush Prairie just after 12:30 p.m. Monday.

A truck and trailer was partially blocking a northbound lane while attempting to turn left onto Northeast 131st Street, Washington State Patrol said.

Four cars stopped behind the trailer, but a 2000 Ford F-250 driven by Trevor B. Hoefler, 20, of Amboy slammed into the last stopped car, causing a chain reaction of collisions in front of his car, state patrol said.

Brooke N. Jeffries, 18, of Battle Ground was driving a 1994 Hyundai Elantra that was rear-ended by Hoefler’s truck. She was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center on Monday with injuries to both arms, a leg and her neck, WSP said. She was released later that day.

Two other drivers reported minor injuries, but were not taken to area hospitals, according to the bulletin.

The collision was caused by speeding, WSP said.

Alcohol wasn’t believed to be a factor.
