Fire destroyed a ranch-style house at 12214 N.E. 117th Ave. in the Brush Prairie area early Monday.

Firefighters from the Vancouver Fire Department responded to the blaze at about 4:15 a.m. and had to remove a woman who was sitting on the porch while flames engulfed the house, said Joe Spatz, a fire department spokesman.

“Communication was difficult with her,” Spatz said. He said due to medical confidentiality rules, he was not authorized to release more details about why she was sitting on the porch during the fire.

The woman sustained minor injuries from the fire and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No one else was injured in the blaze.

The Clark County Fire Marshal continued to investigate the cause of the blaze Monday. A damage estimate was not available.

“The walls were still standing, but there was significant damage,” Spatz said.

The house is valued at about $57,500, according to Clark County property records. Darlene Atchley is the trustee for the property, the records indicate.
