EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — B.J. Cunningham needed only one game this season to reach an impressive milestone.

Cunningham caught nine passes Friday night in Michigan State’s win over Youngstown State, bringing his career total to 148. He’s now tied with Matt Trannon atop the Spartans’ all-time receptions list. He can set the record outright Saturday when No. 17 Michigan State hosts Florida Atlantic.

Cunningham caught 50 passes for 611 yards and nine touchdowns last season but had to miss the Capital One Bowl against Alabama because of a broken foot.

His nine catches and 130 yards receiving last week were both career highs for the senior.
