Bicycle brigade hunting for fruit trees

Urban Abundance, a local group interested in bolstering healthy agriculture in city settings, has developed a team of volunteer cyclists to harvest fruit from trees and bring the bounty back to Clark County food pantries. And volunteers who have taken Urban Abundance’s pruning and maintenance program will offer free pruning, too.

“All we need is the trees to harvest,” organizer Warren Neth said in a statement.

This year, the long spring rains and late-arriving summer weather might mean a lack of good fruit on some area trees, so Urban Abundance is interested in hearing from folks who have decent fruit-bearing trees and want to sign up for some itinerant two-wheeled harvesting and pruning.
