Camas — The East Vancouver Business Association raised $7,500 for scholarships during its 10th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on Aug. 5 at Camas Meadows Golf Club. Scholarship money goes to local students who want to attend Washington State University Vancouver and Clark College. This amount brings the association’s 10-year total to $75,000. “It’s important to the future of our community that our young people receive a quality education and that we keep that educated workforce in the area,” said Connie Christianson, EVBA president and HomeStreet Bank vice president and branch manager. The golf tournament had a Hawaiian theme, complete with hula dancing by the Ke Kukui Foundation and a Hawaiian lunch buffet. The event was sponsored by many local businesses.
