Salmon Creek — Employees at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center generated the hospital’s best-ever giving campaign for its annual school supplies drive in August. The drive benefited Clark County children and families served by the Children’s Home Society of Washington. On Aug. 24, Legacy loaded a pickup truck with 13 large boxes of school supplies — up from eight boxes last year. “We issued a call to action, asking for higher giving levels, and our staff responded,” said Brian Willoughby, spokesman for Legacy Salmon Creek. Donated items were given to Children’s Home Society clients who otherwise would be starting school not just with empty backpacks, but sometimes with no backpacks at all. About 150 children were helped in this year’s drive.
